PostPost subject: New video tutorials..... Reply with quote

So I'm back after a hiatus of not playing any guitar at all and letting my acrylic fingernails grow out. I'm going to start getting my arm strength up and eventually I'm going to make a brand new set of accurate guitar tutorials for several of Justin's most popular songs. Here's my dilemma:

Right now I am a poor college student going to school full time, aka I have no money. That means I have to rely on free web services to get stuff done. Specifically, I need youtube to get my videos out there. Problem with that is you have to conform to a small size (makes it hard for me to accurately describe technique when you can't see both my hands close up) and a 10 minute limit per video. That means I have to split each song's tutorial up into 3 or more parts, which takes a considerable amount of time that I don't have.

Alternately, I could record the videos the way I want and upload them via torrent. Problem is, only you guys and people you know would get to see them because I can't really mass-market a torrent file especially without my own website.

Finally, I could start my own website and buy hosting month-by-month out of my own pocket in order to show the videos the way I want. Or perhaps I could go in on a website with a couple other people, since I don't have much knowledge in web design.

So what do you think? Any other alternatives I haven't considered yet or better ways of doing things? I suppose I will settle for youtube if I have to, but I am getting tired of all the spam comments and idiot youtubers who don't respect anyone and hide behind the anonymity of the internet (I believe Justin would agree with me on that one).

An alternative is just to make the video, and post it for download. Many free websites give you several gigs of storage space. If you make it in .wmv format and limit the audio/video, you would have TONS of space to post many videos. In fact, if you post them as .wmv files and not .zip files, it will stream to their video player.

That's what I'd do anyway...

Would people be able to search for that, though? Part of the problem is I want the videos to be accessible to everyone and most of those websites won't let you search for them via google, yahoo, etc. I suppose maybe I could do that for a temporary solution and then later chop them up for youtube if I get time....

What I've seen others do is post a youtube teaser clip and in the description, list the website and what all is there.

If your vids are under 100MB, this site might be for you: http://crackle.com/support/faq/#size_limits

Alternatively, there's Yahoo Video if your file is less than 150MB:

I say try youtube Brennan, youtube have upped their limit to 1gb have they not? you can also monitor comments, I moderate every comment I get on the vids I've posted on JK...the idiots you refer to don't need to be known Cool no point getting riled up over people who don't appreciate!
Plus, I've seen videos on youtube go way over 10mins *over an hour* though I'm not sure if thats got to do with having a director status. I'm about to upload that documentary by Jean L'Arrivée on his company *the one where Justin plays the infamous Phunkdified clip in the credits...also the one where he plays a snippet of Paris Morning*.
